Mini Diggers for Drainage

Choosing a mini digger for drainage

Drainage is all about trenching: cutting a straight, consistent trench to the right depth, then backfilling neatly once the pipe is laid. The two things that matter most are digging depth and bucket width.

For typical domestic and utility drainage, our 1-tonne L1000 digs to 1.66 metres, which covers most land drainage, soakaways and pipe runs. Fit a narrow trenching bucket for clean, efficient trenches, or a wider grading bucket for backfilling and levelling afterwards. For the tightest gardens, the 0.65-tonne L600 gets into spaces a bigger machine can't, though at shallower depth.

Quick-hitch compatibility means you can switch between a narrow digging bucket and a wide backfill bucket in minutes, so one machine handles the whole job from trench to reinstatement.

Attachments that make drainage easier

The right attachments turn a mini digger into a proper drainage machine. A narrow trenching bucket cuts clean, straight-sided trenches with minimal spoil. A grading bucket makes backfilling and levelling quick. A ripper breaks up hard or compacted ground before you dig, and a breaker deals with any tarmac or concrete in the way.

All of ours are quick-hitch compatible, and you can add the attachments you need at checkout so they arrive with the machine, ready to work.

Frequently asked questions

How deep can a mini digger dig for drainage?
Our 1-tonne L1000 digs to around 1.66 metres, which covers most domestic and utility drainage, land drains and soakaways. For deeper runs you'd move up to a larger machine.
What bucket is best for drainage trenches?
A narrow trenching bucket (around 200 to 300 mm) cuts clean, straight trenches for pipe with minimal spoil. Pair it with a wider grading bucket for backfilling and levelling once the pipe is laid.
Can a mini digger backfill as well as dig?
Yes. With a wider grading bucket a mini digger backfills and levels neatly after the pipe is laid. Because it's quick-hitch compatible, you can swap from a narrow trenching bucket to a grading bucket in minutes.
Are the machines new or used?
Every machine is brand new and built to order, not ex-hire or second hand. You get a clean history, no hidden wear and a full 12-month warranty from day one.
How much does a mini digger cost?
Because we sell factory-direct, prices start well below a comparable dealer machine. A micro digger sits at the lower end of the range, with 1 to 2-tonne machines costing more as digging depth and power increase. All prices include VAT and free delivery.
Do you deliver across the UK?
Yes. Every machine is delivered free to your door anywhere in mainland UK on a dedicated transport service, usually within 4 to 6 weeks, with updates the whole way.
Is finance available?
Yes. Finance options are available so you can spread the cost into manageable monthly payments rather than paying the full amount upfront. Get in touch and we'll talk you through what's available.
Can I add attachments?
Yes. Every machine is quick-hitch compatible with buckets, rippers, breakers, augers, thumbs and more, added at checkout so they arrive with the machine.
