A hydraulic auger attachment turns a mini digger into a fast, consistent post-hole borer, replacing hours of manual digging with a job that takes seconds per hole.

How it works

The auger connects through the machine's quick-hitch, using the digger's hydraulic system to spin a drill bit into the ground. Bit sizes typically range from 150mm for standard fence posts up to 450mm or more for larger structural posts, and bits are swapped depending on the job.

What it is used for

  • Fence post holes along boundary runs
  • Deck and pergola foundation posts
  • Tree planting holes at consistent depth
  • Sign and structural post installation

Choosing the right bit size

Match the auger diameter to your post size, allowing enough clearance around the post for concrete or backfill. For most domestic fencing, a 150 to 200mm bit covers standard timber posts, while structural work needs a wider bit and deeper hole.

Every machine in our mini digger range is quick-hitch compatible with auger attachments. See our fencing groundworks guide for a full look at post hole and fencing work.
