What size mini digger do you need?
Mini diggers are grouped by operating weight. The right size comes down to how much room you have to get the machine in, and how much digging you need it to do.
Micro diggers
The smallest class, and the one that fits where nothing else will. Squeezes through standard gateways and side passages (often under 700 mm) and light enough to trailer. Ideal for garden landscaping, small drainage runs, extension footings and confined work.
Mini diggers
The all-rounder most buyers land on. Enough depth and reach for utility trenches, foundations, ponds and groundworks while still fitting through a 930 mm gap. Expandable tracks let you narrow for access and widen for stability.
Compact excavators
For heavier, regular work. More weight means more digging force, deeper trenches and better lifting, with the option of a closed cabin and a hydraulic thumb. A sensible step up for daily groundworks.
How much does a mini digger cost?
Prices vary with size, engine and specification, but because we sell factory-direct rather than through importers and dealers, our new mini diggers start from a lot less than you might expect for a machine with a full warranty behind it. A micro digger sits at the lower end, with 1 to 2-tonne machines costing more as digging depth, power and options increase.
Buying direct removes the layers of markup a dealer adds, so you get a brand-new, warrantied machine at a price closer to a tired ex-hire example elsewhere. Every price includes VAT and free UK delivery, and finance is available if you'd rather spread the cost.

Attachments and custom builds
Every Lion mini digger is quick-hitch compatible with a full range of attachments: digging buckets from 200 mm to 1,000 mm, tilting and grading buckets, trenching and toothless buckets, rippers, rakes, hydraulic augers, breaker hammers, grapples and mechanical or hydraulic thumbs. Add the ones you need at checkout and they arrive with the machine.
You can also build the machine your way. On the larger models you can choose the engine, add a closed cabin and spec extendable tracks, so the digger that turns up is set up for your work rather than a generic yard machine.
